DAY 1 - 7/15/2016
IDEA THEME: No theme today
James Altucher has a big theme of being an idea person in his life. I really love his perspective on the value of ideation. He recommends coming up with 10 ideas per day for an extended period of time.
What kind of ideas you might ask? You can come up with business ideas, ideas to surprise your wife, or 10 ways to make your yard look awesome. Change it up everyday and build your idea muscle. I'm eager to try my hand at Jame's challenge of writing down 10 new ideas each day for a period of 3 to 6 months without missing a single day. He claims this will change your life...lets test his hypothesis.
Here we go....
1. TrackIT.com - An app that allows students (primary medical) to easily track volunteer hours, shadowing hours, etc. The data collected from the app can be centralized into a printable or email-able report to places like the schools they are applying to or wherever else that's needed.
2. Shadowme.com - I've recently been shadowing some Occupational Therapists and it's rather difficult to find people to shadow. I've also noticed that some organizations are tired of students asking them if they can shadow. It seems a bridge to connect interest with opportunity would make sense. This could apply to many fields but I see it being biggest in the medical education space. Pre-med students, Pre-PT, Pre-optometry, etc. would all find this useful.
3. How to get into Medical school course: A comprehensive guide to make your job of getting into Med School a little bit easier!
4. How to get into PT school course:
5. How to get into OT school course: ACTUALLY IN PROGRESS :)
6. How to get into Optometry school
7. How to get into Chiropractic school
8. How to get into Pharmacy school
9. How to get into Massage Therapy School
10. How to become a hair stylist or barber
I kind of cheated from #3-10 since it's kind of one idea to make a bunch of courses on "How to get into a specific healthcare job." I'll go ahead and do seven more ideas to make my idea muscle work. This is hard already for me. The first few ideas just flowed, but now I'm straining to think of new ideas.
11. Interview course creation: Create unique courses based off interviewing subject matter experts. For example, interview 10 lifestyle entrepreneurs on how they started their own business and have plenty of time to be with their family. Package the interviews really nice with some value-added content and give the course a name and start selling it.
12. Freework.com - A platform like many other freelancer platforms that allows people like students to build a portfolio of real-life projects. Students work comes at no charge (benefit to them is building a real portfolio). Educators benefit is practicality in the education rather than a meaningless paper. Benefit to business is crowd-sourcing ideas for projects, using projects that are exceptional in real life and promoting education and practical learning. You could think about monetizing by advertising, charging a yearly fee for access to the companies wanting free work. The work is free but they'd have a one-time fee to access the directory and site.
13. Swiperightnight.com - Tinder is very popular. What if you could match and meet the same night. What if you could match and meet people without all the other hassles that comes along with "Tindering." IN PROGRESS: email andrewknielsen@gmail.com if you want to be a part of this!
14. preswipedating.com - Meet your tinder matches in a safe, non-threatening environment. This could be an added feature of swiperightnight. An even that is called pre-swiped under the umbrella of swiperightnight.com
15. Venturiffic.com - Hometown guide to great fun. Everyone always asks "what should we do?" Think no more...go to Venturiffic and find something awesome to do right near you! - in progress: venturiffic.weebly.com. Email andrewknielsen@gmail.com if you want to be a part of this!
16. Power of Pareto Blog - Dissect really any topic or activity into the 20% of stuff that makes 80% of the difference (Free content). Link experts in for the other 20% and use the site as lead generation tool.
17. Anatomical Summer: So you've heard of like those "Mathnasium" things. You get a bunch of math done in a short amount of time rather than having to take a bunch of courses that take a year or two- ughh!! I think many people are in the same boat with pre-health classes like Anatomy, Have a bldg or center where you can get your anatomy class done outside the confines of typical university. Make sure it's accredited.
18. CustomerComments.com - Come up with a software that allows you to pull in all data sources (comment sources) about your product/service from around the web. Very similar to a podium.co except not a solution seeking reviews. The value of centralizing and analyzing all customer comments is you know what your customers are saying. You can then evaluate with your team what things are most important. You could take feedback from sites like yelp, google, facebook, etc. Analyze the comments for keywords. Create numeric percentages based on common phrases, words, etc. Have reports that tell you the top phrases used in comments and any other useful trends.
