I've been thinking a lot about how to make Jesus Christ central to my life. So this will be an exercise for me to think of ideas for how I can do just that:
1. Study the Savior's life
2. Develop my spiritual muscles through reading scriptures, praying, fasting, obeying the commandments, serving others, etc. (List out all spiritual things I know I should be doing)
3. Study the lives of people who were valiant in the service of Christ. People like the Apostle Paul, Ammon, and others
4. Schedule in the "spiritual" activities of my day to ensure they are the ACTUAL priorities of day to day living
5. Get rid of activities that may be good but aren't the best or just start focusing on them less or spending less time on them
6. Study what happened to the people who weren't able to make Christ the center of their lives (the rich young man story)
7. Study the mindset and psychology differences of those with Christ vs those lukewarm vs those who were against him. What were their overriding motivations?
8. Seek the direction and guidance of the Spirit. I was about to write down plan your days and weeks (good to a certain extent) but I thought, "I wonder how Christ did his daily/weekly planning?" The reality is that the Savior was perfectly in tune with the Spirit and his actions were in complete alignment with what direction he received.
9. Study the lives of people who "turned it around" - not necessarily that they were bad although it would be cool to see "bad to good" stories as well, but in general people who are passively living the gospel who changed to becoming extremely active in the gospel?
10. Listen to the words of God's living Apostles and Prophet
If there was a program (the Scriptures basically haha) designed to help people go from "passive to valiant" in the gospel, what would that program look like for people? Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Holy Ghost, Priesthood (Men), mission, marriage in the temple, keeping commandments, having a family and raising them righteously, continuing to share the gospel and serve others
So maybe something like 1) Study the Savior's life and teachings 2 )Demonstrate real faith 3) Repent of your wrongdoings 4) Receive essential ordinances 5) Serve others
Activities:
1) Personal inventory (where's my time being spent, checklist vs love mindset with spiritual activities, etc) what's out of balance/alignment in your overall life
2) Start anew - make new priorities and build them into your day to day life to reflect true priority
3) Take care of personal, family, and other worthy responsibilities and avocations
Questions:
Are you living in a way that you can hear the voice of the Spirit?
If no, why not, what needs to change or be repented of?
Where is your time going each day?
What things need to be dropped from priority?
What things need to be added to the top of your list?
How to rely on the Spirit and the Savior despite the busyness and never empty "schedules" of life?
